34 Facts About Me

Hi Friends! I thought in honor of my 34th birthday, I would share 34 random facts about me. I was completely inspired by Amanda from Strawberry Chic and her birthday post of her 35 most random facts. I don’t share a ton of my personal life online, so I hope you enjoy getting to know me a little bit better. 🙂

34. I was born on Mardi Gras (2/27/1990), which might only be interesting if you’re from Louisiana. 😂

33. I went to college in my hometown and earned my Bachelors in Business Administration in 2014. Now I work in the Admissions Office of that college.

32. My favorite Netflix show is The Great British Baking Show.

31. I’m an enneagram Type 1 (The Perfectionist).

30. I hate being cold or hot, but would rather be cold than hot. Louisiana summers are brutal.

    29. I’m absolutely terrified of snakes and the ocean.

    28. I’m a movie nerd. Some of my favorites are: The Devil Wears Prada, It’s Complicated, Gladiator, all the Harry Potter movies, and anything from Christopher Nolan. The only movies I really don’t like are action or horror movies.

    27. My all-time favorite movie is Titanic. When it came out, I saw it in the theater 3 times and I’ve watched it at least once a year since (and I cry every single time.) No wonder I’m terrified of the ocean. 😂

    26. I was a cheerleader for 6 years (2 years in junior high and 4 years in high school).

      25. I’m very shy, so I’m not sure how I was a cheerleader. 🤷‍♀️

      24. I can’t do anything without my AirPods. I use them at work, while I’m cleaning, grocery shopping, at the gym, etc. And I’m usually listening to a movie nerd podcast, a true crime podcast or Taylor Swift.

      23. My favorite albums are 1989 and Lover.

        22. I won a school wide jump rope contest in 8th grade. When I was done, I felt like I won gold in the Olympics. 😂

        21. I love home decor almost as much as I love clothes. It’s a reallllyyyyy tight race between the two. I’d say my home decor style is timeless, traditional French country.

        20. My celebrity crush is Leonardo DiCaprio (since 1997, obviously).

        19. I’m very introverted and have a pretty serious case of RBF. I really have to be mindful of how I look in meetings at work. 😳

        18. I love bookstores but I don’t like reading.

        17. My first job was working at an ice cream shop when I was 17. I worked there for 3 years then worked as a bank teller while I was in college.

        16. I’m very indecisive and overthink almost everything.

        15. My husband’s name is Michael, so together we’re Michael Jordan.

        14. We met at the gym and we’ve been together for 13 years.

        13. My cell phone got stolen on our first date. Normal me would’ve been raging, but since it was our first date, I didn’t want to scare him away. 😅

        12. We climbed the Great Wall of China on a study abroad trip in the summer of 2013. Such an incredible experience!

        11. If I could, I would take a nap every single day.

        10. I find cleaning and organizing relaxing. But I hate doing the laundry.

        9. The most millennial thing I’ve ever done was not knowing that I was a millennial.

        8. I learned how to do makeup from watching Jaclyn Hill videos on Youtube.

        7. I’m really good at pop culture trivia.

        6. Certain sounds make me crazy. Especially chewing, whistling, or people singing with the radio, but the worst is the sounds of someone flossing their teeth. My husband knows to run the facet so I can’t hear when he’s doing it 😂

        5. I’ve seen every episode of Friends multiple times. I had every season on DVD and watched them on repeat every night when I went to sleep in high school.

        4. I didn’t start drinking coffee until I was in my mid-twenties. Now I can drink iced coffee all day long.

        3. I didn’t get a Stanley cup until the end of 2023. I love it, but only for the handle. 😅 Cold water hurts my teeth.

        2. Christmas is my favorite holiday, and it takes me days to put up all my decorations. I have 19 totes full of decor in my garage. 🫣

        1. I’ve never used Tik Tok, and don’t even have the app on my phone.

        Life Lately….

Hey y’all, it’s been a minute. I haven’t posted on Instagram & LIKEtoKNOW.it since August 26th & haven’t posted an actual blog post since June. I thought I’d make a short post about what’s been going on and where I’ve been!

I don’t think I’ve mentioned on social media yet, but my husband, Mikey, and I are getting ready to start building our dream/forever house! We actually started the whole process back in April with purchasing our land & getting our plans started. Mikey works for a home builder, so it makes some of the building process a lot easier. We just had our construction loan closing so we should (fingers crossed) be in our new home by April! I’ll share updates along the way.

The day we closed on our land!

So, before we could finalize everything with our new house, we had to sell our old house. I’ll be honest it was pretty sad saying goodbye to our home. We built it only 3 years ago, and did not have intentions to build a new house this soon, but things just lined up for us to start a couple of years earlier than we planned. We officially sold our house on August 18th and moved into a 2 bedroom townhouse. It’s definitely been an adjustment but we were just so grateful that we could find a rental that would let us bring all 3 of our dogs.

First pic on our land 🙂

Selling our house & moving to a new place definitely took a lot of my time and focus away from social media and just when I was ready to start posting again Hurricane Ida came rolling through Louisiana and did a number on us. We were without power for 14 FULL DAYS and the day the lights came back on was probably one of the happiest days of my life…no joke. Being without power for that long, not working for three weeks, and being in a new place was taking a toll on my mental health. I’m so grateful that things are finally slowing down and I can focus on blogging & posting again!

Thank y’all so much for reading and supporting this little hobby of mine 🙂

Winter Wonderland Christmas Decor Home Tour

Christmas is my favorite time of year for decorating my home (fall decor is a close second!). This year will be the third Christmas that we’ve lived in our house and I finally have the perfect decor. The first two years I was struggling to figure out what I wanted just using the decor I already had. Well, this year I decided to purchase a lot more decor to try and make it what I wanted- and it’s finally perfect! The majority of the decor is from Hobby Lobby, Target and Kirklands. I finally settled on a white winter wonderland theme!

        Christmas Tree

        Foyer/Dining Room

One of my favorite ways to fill an empty space is with a cute basket, a cozy throw blanket and throw pillow.

        Living Room

I absolutely love these bookshelves but styling them is SO hard! I love how they turned out but it was a real struggle.

I added snow fluff to the shelves and this made such a difference and made each shelf feel fuller. Small sprinkles of greenery help achieve a fuller shelf, too. I also came up with a little trick that I honestly had to stop myself from doing too much, and that was wrapping my books to look like Christmas presents. This just added so much extra detail that was so easy to achieve!

        Kitchen

Over the years I’ve collected colorful Christmas decor pieces, mostly nutcrackers & snow globes, that I would love to display but that don’t quite go with the winter wonderland vibe in the rest of the house. So I thought above the kitchen cabinets was the perfect way to display all the pretty colorful pieces and not have them clash with the rest of the decor.

        Breakfast Nook

        Front Porch Decor

I absolutely love how the front porch looks this year. I added some throw pillows and lights to the small trees by the front door and these little additions make such a difference.

I just love how the traditional red and green Christmas colors look against our white house and green front doors. 🙂

These lanterns are honestly my favorite Christmas pieces on the porch!

Thank you so much for reading! I’ve linked as many items (similar and exact) that I could find and hope you find it helpful when decorating your home this Christmas!!

        Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

This is my first year shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and I’m part excited and part anxious! I know it seems silly to be anxious about a sale, but it is my first year shopping the sale and shopping it as a new blogger. I am super excited though to hopefully pick up some awesome pieces for fall and winter! The sale is also the perfect time to start some holiday shopping! Because I am new to the sale I will have to wait until August 19th to shop. Below are the dates that the sale will be open for different level Nordstrom cardmembers.

We’ll see how the sale goes for me this year and maybe I’ll consider becoming a cardmember for next year. I just don’t like having credit cards…they tempt me too much 🙂 Here are my favorite picks for all different categories of the sale!

        Laundry Room Makeover

I’m so excited to share my laundry room makeover with y’all! We’ve lived in our house for 2 years and sprucing up our laundry room was always on my to-do list, but I never really thought about it that much until good ole quarantine. Like everyone else during quarantine, we worked in our yard and did other small projects around the house, but fixing up the laundry room was the project I was most excited about!

        Before….

        Almost there…..

        After! 🙂

I am so happy with how it turned out! The best part was I didn’t really have to buy a lot to decorate it either, I mostly used things that I already had. The cabinets are stock cabinets from Lowe’s and were less than $100 each!

The shelves were made by my daddy and fit so perfectly between the cabinets. They’re really just for decor but that’s fine with me. I do use the little white dish to hold any guitar picks that I find in the washer or dryer from my husband, but other than that just pretty decor 🙂

The tobacco basket was a Dirt Cheap find that I got last year and was so inexpensive. I also already had the dried lavender and the little vase was saved from an old oil diffuser- it’s always a good idea to save little things like this since you never know when you’ll need them! The cookie jar was a wedding gift and would be perfect to store detergent pods. I don’t use them, but if I did I’d have a cute place to store them!

The last thing that I already had was the framed “I love you” note. When my husband and I were dating I left this note on his truck one day and he framed it after he found it. I still think that was the sweetest thing he could’ve done with it!

I have a post all about how to make these diy pressed floral frames!

This was the hanger for my wedding dress and I thought it was much cuter on the wall in the laundry room than hiding in my closet!

Thank you so much for reading!

        DIY Pressed Floral Frame

I recently watched an episode of HGTV’s Home Town and if you haven’t seen it, go watch it now! It’s about the cutest husband and wife, Ben and Erin Napier, and how they restore and remodel homes in Laurel, MS. Typically every episode Erin will show an easy DIY project to incorporate into the home they are working on. This DIY pressed floral art is my favorite project she’s shown. It’s my kind of project- easy & affordable! I give all the credit to her!

        What you’ll need…

        • Picture frame- I picked up these $12 floating frames from Target
        • Two stone pavers- I picked up two from Home Depot. I think they were $1 for both- so cheap!
        • Paper towels
        • Flowers/plants- You can use your favorite flower or plant. I used a $5 bouquet from the grocery store, lavender and clipped some leaves from our eucalyptus tree

Once you have everything, here are the steps…

        • Clip your flowers to whatever size you would like for the frame
        • Place the flowers between the pavers with a few paper towels covering both sides of the plant. This gives a little padding for the flowers between the heavy pavers.
        • Place the pavers in the microwave and turn it on for 2-3 minutes. Be careful, the pavers will be hot so use your oven mitts!
        • Arrange your flowers however you like in the frame and that’s it!!
        Before going in the microwave!
After! Perfectly dried but still so pretty.

These were so fun and easy to make. Not to mention they were so inexpensive! I made one for my mom for Mother’s Day and she loved it! Hope you enjoyed this little DIY!

        Thanks so much!
