These are my newest jeans from Madewell. I snagged them on Black Friday for a really good deal, but they’re currently on sale for $99! They are the Petite Kick Out Crop in Colleton wash. I’m wearing a size 24P, however, I should’ve sized down to a 23P. I washed and dried them to shrink them up a little which helped, but I do wish I would’ve sized down from the beginning.

Short Story: A Petite Styling Box

Hi, Friends! Today I’ll be sharing my recent experience trying Short Story, a petite subscription box styling service. Short Story is a women led styling service brand that focuses on helping women who are 5’4″ and under find clothes that will make them feel and look their very best petite self!

I was always hesitant to try personal styling services simply because I was convinced the items, especially dresses and pants, would not work for me. When I found out Short Story was created specifically for petite women I couldn’t wait to try it!

How Does it Work?

The process is incredibly easy! You’ll start by taking the Short Story style quiz to let them know your style preferences, sizes, and budget. Based on your responses, a personal style expert will curate your box with 5 handpicked high quality pieces. Your box will be shipped to you and you’ll have 5 days to decide which pieces you’d like to keep and which ones you’d like to send back, with shipping and returns being free. The styling fee for your Short Story box is $25 and this will be used as a credit towards any items that you wish to keep.

What Did I Get in My Short Story Box?

I was really impressed with the pieces my Short Story stylist picked for me! My box included a top, a pair of jeans, and three dresses. The best part is I can wear all of the pieces to work or dress them down for when I’m outside of the office.

I’ll start with my favorite piece in the box- this adorable floral print dress! I could live in dresses like this and boots the entire Fall season. The fit is super comfortable and flowy, and the length is perfect!

Tie Waist Denim Dress

Next up is this cute tie waist denim dress. The material of this dress is very high quality and super soft! I styled it here with knee high boots, but it would also look cute with a pair of booties. The length is a little too long on me, so this is the only item from my box I’ll be sending back.

Twist Front Top and Good American Girlfriend Jeans

This top and jeans are the perfect ingredients for a casual weekend outfit! The top can also be dressed up for work with a pair of black pants and flats.

I was excited to see that my stylist included a pair of Good American jeans in my box! I’ve wanted to try their jeans for awhile. These are a comfortable, flattering straight leg jean that’s perfect to take into the Fall season.

The last piece included in my box is this great little black dress! The material is thick enough that it’s not see through, plus it’s incredibly flattering and comfortable. It also makes a great little work dress because of the length- not too long, not too short!

5 Fall Work Outfits

Today I’m sharing five work wear outfits that are perfect for this Fall! If it’s cool enough for you to wear these outfits where you live I’m very jealous! Louisiana still thinks its August some days. These are outfits that I would be able to wear to my work where the dress code is business casual (some days more business, some more casual-just depends). I’ll list my size for everything that I can, but for reference, I’m 5’1 and 105 lbs.

One Week of Valentine’s Day Work Outfits

January 24, 2022- January 28, 2022

This week I did a poll on Instagram stories and asked if I should do a week of Valentine’s Day inspired outfits- the majority vote was yes! Knowing that I had a “theme” for my outfits made it so much easier and more fun getting ready for work this week. One Week of Work Outfits

Happy 2022! This week was my first week back at work since our 2 week Christmas break, and let me tell you, it felt so good to get ready this week. I typically spend my Christmas break with absolutely no makeup on and wear leggings on repeat. So, it felt so good to put myself together!

I wanted to start off this year by sharing a recap of my work outfits for the week. Our office was closed on Monday, so my outfits started on Tuesday this week. For reference, I work at a local university and I would say our dress code is on the casual end of business casual.

Petite Friendly Fall Boots Under $50

Finding petite friendly boots has always been a struggle for me when fall comes around. Most of the super popular boots every year from Nordstrom, for example, come up to high and hit my leg in an awkard, unflattering place. I think I ordered and returned 2-3 pairs of boots last year trying to find a nice flattering pair.

I finally found that I have the BEST luck with boots from Target! Most of their taller boots have around a 15 inch shaft which is perfect for my short legs. For reference, I’m 5’1 and have a nice (yet short 🙂 ) balance to my legs and torso and wear my normal size 6 in Target shoes. Target came out with a ton of new boots this season and I’ve tested them out and wanted to share my favorites along with some outfit inspiration for y’all!
